Chavisa Woods

Chavisa Woods is the author of Love Does Not Make Me Gentle or Kind published by Fly by Night Press in 2008. This book was a finalist for the 2009 Lambda Literary Award for Debut Fiction. Woods is the recipient of the Jerome Foundation 2009 Literary Award for emerging writers. She has served as a literary editor for Tribes Journal from 2003 to 2006. Woods is a regular member of Butch Morris’ world renowned Chorus of Poets. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in Prima Materia, The Gay and Lesbian Review Worldwide, Matador, and many others. She is not afraid to use words like dyke, feminist and socialist to describe herself, although, those are not the only words she would use.
