Jan Edwards Hemming

Jan Edwards Hemming’s poetry and essays have appeared in Electric Literature, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Los Angeles Review of Books Blog, The Ilanot Review, FruitSlice, and elsewhere. Her poems “Bird” and “Oven” were each nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and her essay “Mirror, Mirror” was nominated for the Best American Essays 2025. She holds an MFA in Poetry from NYU and a B.A. in English from LSU, has been awarded residencies from Virginia Center for Creative Arts and Vermont Studio Center, and co-edited the 2023 and 2024 Saints & Sinners Literary Festival Poetry Anthologies. She lives and works in New Orleans.
